BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – There’s a new push to encourage people to get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they can.
You’ve seen images of healthcare workers getting the COVID-19 vaccine. This week, many started getting their second dose.
“It’s rewarding because I didn’t get COVID between the first and second which, I think, everybody kind of worries about,” said Dr. David Campbell, Critical Care Medicine Physician with Our Lady of the Lake.
The Baton Rouge Health District wants to relieve you of any vaccine fears with the launch of its COVID Safe Vaccine Campaign.
“Work with our health care heroes in cintinuing to be leaders and examples for the rest of the community and getting vaccinated so they can protect others,” said Steven Ceulemans, Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Health District.
The Baton Rouge Health District released this promotional video Friday for the campaign, showing front line health care workers stepping up and getting the shot.
This launch comes as people 70 and older are getting their first dose of the Moderna vaccine, including Former LSU Baseball Head Coach Skip Bertman.
“It’s easy. It’s safe and I can’t imagine anybody not getting the shot,” said Bertman.
That’s the type of glowing review doctors want you to hear, so you’ll get the shot when it is available to you.
Dr. Campbell added, “At the end of the day, it was the right thing for me. The right thing for my family and I think that for the vast majority of folks out there, they’re gonna find that it’s the right thing for them too.”
