BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting that left one man injured on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Victor Torry, 20, of Baton Rouge was taken into custody after an investigation by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. Around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, deputies were called to a reported shooting at BREC Sugarland Park.

Upon arrival, deputies found a man had been shot multiple times while inside his vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to the arrest affidavit. Shell casings were found in and around the car.

A review of video surveillance footage uncovered a Mercedes-Benz coming into and leaving the neighborhood around the time of the shooting. The same vehicle also was seen parked at BREC Sugarland Park. Investigators determined that the vehicle belonged to Torry.

The victim called 911 themselves and told the dispatcher that “Playboy Vic” shot him and left in a blue Mercedes-Benz, according to the affidavit.

A review of the victim’s phone showed that they had been in communication with “Vic” via text and social media prior to the shooting and arranged to meet at the park.

Photos on Torry’s social media profile, which linked to another page with the username “playboyvic” appeared to match his driver’s license photo, according to investigators.

Torry was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Bond has been set at $750,000.
