Baton Rouge man charged with First Degree Murder

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that took place a few months ago.

19-year-old Mekhi Palmer-Davis is behind bars in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Detectives believe that Palmer-Davis was involved “in the shooting death of Carlton Phillips, 21 that occurred on April 24, 2021 at 1084 North Donmoor Ave.”

At the time of his most recent arrest, the 19-year-old was already in jail facing a 2nd Degree Murder charge.

Palmer-Davis is now also facing one count of 1st Degree Murder.

Bond for Palmer-Davis is set at $260,000.
