Baton Rouge mayor announces online workshops to educate residents on financial literacy

News

Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced a series of online workshops to help promote the financial literacy of residents by educating them on financial planning and applying for financial aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Broome’s office is partnering with the local, nonprofit groups to provide the programs. Those groups are the Capital Area United Way, Hope Ministries, Junior League of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Jump Start and the EmployBR Program, according to Mark Armstrong, the city’s chief communications officer.

The workshops are intended to help residents become more financially stable after receiving government stimulus checks in response to the pandemic, Armstrong wrote.
