BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- The Office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announces that the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and Digital Cities Survey honors Baton Rouge in the top ten cities in the U.S. for advanced cybersecurities, digitization of services, data transparency and community engagement.
CDG will hold a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 8 to honor the diligence of the city. The event is also open to the public.
In its many digital initiatives, Baton Rouge has been recognized for investing heavily in cybersecurity defenses, education online classes, infrastructure and launching Open Budget BR, an interactive platform to promote transparency and community engagement with annual budgets in the City-Parish, the release states.
Baton Rouge is also honored for the transparency of the stormwater master plan and establishing comprehensive IT infrastructure in real-time that have played a significant role in vaccination sites assessable to residents and more.
“This recognition validates all the hard work and advancements our City-Parish has made over the past several years to integrate technology and innovation into all we do in East Baton Rouge Parish,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. “From public safety and human services to transportation and drainage projects, technology is a foundational part of our approach to delivering quality programs, services and investments that help build a strong quality of life for our residents and community.”
Baton Rouge is ranked seventh among mid-sized cities joining other leading cities like Alexandria, Virginia; Bellevue, Washington and Fort Collins, Colorado. Click here for more information about the CDG.
