BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- A 20-year-old Baton Rouge man is facing a charge of attempted murder after firing multiple gunshots at a man he was fighting with, authorities say.

Public records identify Samuel Quinn as the suspected gunman who fired the shots in question on Monday, September 19.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO), Quinn and another man began fighting each other in the parking lot of a business on Greenwell Street.

EBRSO goes on to say that at some point during the altercation, the other man set his gun aside, placing it on top of a nearby garbage container.

Deputies add that as the fight continued, Quinn took the other man’s gun from the garbage can and used it to fire approximately ten rounds in the man’s direction.

Quinn was pinpointed as a suspect based on physical evidence from the scene of the shooting, video surveillance of the fight, and more than one witness account, according to EBRSO detectives.

He was arrested and brought to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was jailed on charges that include attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and theft of a firearm.
