BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A capital area police officer sustained an injury while attempting to prevent a potential disaster Monday night.

According to Baton Rouge Police (BRPD), officers pulled over a male driver along Coursey Boulevard near Cedarcrest Avenue.

BRPD says for some reason, as the driver got out of the vehicle and locked its door, he failed to put the automobile in park.

So, the vehicle began to roll forward on its own.

One of the officers realized immediate action was needed and without hesitation, used one of his fists to bust out a window, enter the vehicle, and put it in park.

The officer was successful in his attempts to allay danger, but BRPD reports that he sustained moderate injuries in the process.
