BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Christmas may be months away, but as August reaches its conclusion, the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) and its community partners are already urging locals to consider donating to an upcoming Christmas Essential Needs Drive.

Volunteers are encouraged to donate the following newly purchased items (no used items please) listed below:

  • socks for people of all ages
  • underwear for people of all ages/genders
  • toilet paper
  • unscented soap/body wash
  • lotion
  • toothbrushes
  • toothpaste
  • mouthwash
  • deodorant
  • blankets
  • tampons/maxi pads
  • slippers
  • winter coats
  • towels
  • laundry detergent
  • shampoo
  • conditioner
  • hand sanitizer
  • baby bottles
  • baby formula
  • combs
  • brushes
  • slippers

The drive will take place December 13-15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 1120 Government Street.

This event will be sponsored by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, the Capital Area Family Justice Center, BRPD, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office, and Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.
