18-year-old Jack Jordan is behind bars this morning and facing multiple charges after a late night crash killed 51-year-old Stephanie Payne on Monday, July 22.
LSP said the two-vehicle crash happened “on LA Hwy 3246 (Siegen Ln.) at LA Hwy 427 (Perkins Rd.) in East Baton Rouge Parish.”
State police arrived just after 10 p.m. and began their investigation into this fatal crash.
The at scene investigation showed that “Payne was stopped at the intersection of Siegen Ln. and Perkins Rd. in a 2013 Nissan Rogue,” according to the Louisiana State Police.
The suspect in this case was travelling quickly in the northbound direction on Siegen Ln.
LSP said, Jordan’s Toyota Tundra “struck the rear of the Rogue at a high rate of speed. ”
The collision resulted in Stephanie Payne’s vehicle catching fire.
Payne’s injuries from this collision were fatal.
Jordan admitted to intentionally causing the crash, according to the Louisiana State Police.
After receiving treatment at a local hospital, Jordan was sent to Troop A.
The suspect tried to escape but was unsuccessful and currently faces these charges:
Jordan currently resides in the East Baton Rouge Prison and authorities do not think impairment played a part in this crash.
The investigation into this fatal crash remains open.
