The Baton Rouge Walmart Supercenter located at 9350 Cortana Place will boast a 16-foot, high-tech “Pickup Tower” that functions as a vending machine to fulfill customer’s online orders in less than a minute.
The purpose of the structure is to save shoppers time and money, and this tower is the first of its kind to be installed in a Louisiana Walmart, according to Walmart.
To use the new feature, shoppers first must select their desired items via walmart.com and select the “Pickup” option at checkout.
When a selected item arrives at a store, an associate will load it into the Pickup Tower.
The shopper will then be notified, at which time he or she would go to the tower and scan the barcode sent to their smartphone.
“At Walmart we’re always looking for ways to help Baton Rouge customers save time and money,” Baton Rouge Store Manager Frederick Delafosse said. “The Pickup Tower is one of our most popular innovations because it’s easy to use and gives customers the ability to shop whenever and however they want.”
