Baton Rouge woman charged with aggravated arson

News

A Baton Rouge woman was charged with aggravated arson Wednesday after lighting a shirt on fire and throwing it on the roof of an occupied residence.

Erica Mitchell, 29, said after she and her mother had a verbal argument, Mitchell said she went outside and used a cigarette lighter to ignite a shirt she threw on her home, which was occupied, according to an affidavit.

Mitchell said she stayed outside and did not alert the occupants. An occupant later went outside to remove the burning shirt, which caused minimal damage.

Mitchell was accused of committing simple arson in September at another location.
