BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – A high school senior in Beaumont, Texas who was accepted to 30 colleges and universities created a video revealing that, despite all her options, she’s excited to attend Southern University.

In the video, Kynnedi Jackson said she has been interested in attending Southern University since she was in the sixth grade. As a ninth-grader, Jackson visited the university and became even more interested, she said.

But when it came time to choose a college, Jackson nearly gave up on her dream of going to Southern University. She said the university took a long time to accept her application, but as soon as she was accepted, she knew it was right for her.

Jackson’s mother, Shundria Walker-Jackson, explained in a Facebook post just how active Jackson, who will graduate in the top 4% of her class, is within her school and her community.

Jackson is the president of the local NAACP Youth Chapter and a former president of the Delta Gems. She’s also a member of the National Honor Society, the Timberwolf Network, the Key Club, the District CTE Advisory Council, the Beaumont Gift of Life Youth Council, the Superintendent’s Leadership Council, the Top Teens of America Beaumont Chapter, the Phi Delta Kappa Xinos and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, according to Walker-Jackson.
