BIZARRE: Man arrested for accepting 86-inch TV delivered on accident

Have you ever purchased something online and received more than you paid for?

Well, a Massachusetts man decided to keep a flat screen television that was sent to his home by mistake and he ended up in handcuffs.

Nick Memmo, 35, says that he was arrested for larceny and misleading.

Memmo said police arrived at his home to question him about the incident several days before his arrest.

“I answered what questions I could without putting myself in jeopardy,” he said.

During a search inside the home, officers found an 86-inch TV mounted to the living room wall.

“They surrounded the house and knocked on the door with flashlights coming through all the windows,” Memmo said. “They told me to come outside then handcuffed me.”

He admits that the television was delivered by mistake. He initially purchased a 74-inch flat screen TV on Amazon.

When a third party shipping company delivered the item, they also gave him the 86-inch TV on accident.

When asked if he ever thought they made a mistake, and whether he should return it, Memmo said: “I did and I looked into all the laws and said, ‘You know, it’s a scratch ticket. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.'”

He said that Amazon told him he had nothing t worry about.

The shipping company told Boston 25 News they made several attempts to contact Memmo before the authorities got involved.

The company also said Memmo signed for the delivery, which he disputes.
