BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Free Dentistry Day is back!

One business in the Capital Area provides free dental care to locals who cannot afford insurance.

Brushing your teeth only does half the job of ensuring your mouth is clean. The other half requires consistent visits to the dentist.

But for many, an annual trip to the dentist isn’t always feasible.

Sarah Peoples a dentist at Bluebonnet Dental Care, explained that many people suffer from toothaches or need cleanings, but can’t afford to cover the cost of such care.

In fact, more than eight percent of Louisiana residents do not have dental insurance.

But Bluebonnet Dental Care wants to help.

Another dentist at the clinic, Breah Burkhalter, told BRProud how Bluebonnet Dental will help, saying, “We know everyone can not afford dental Insurance but we want to give back to our community. We are hosting a free dental day. We want to provide the same dental care that everyone can get to everyone.”

Bluebonnet Dental Care’s goal is to help as many people as possible get their teeth cleaned or undergo much-needed extractions.

“We are four doctors here and we have five hygienists. So we’re ready. We have a ton of volunteers,” Peoples added.

Their best advice to clients is to arrive early.

“It is first come, first serve,” Peoples explained.

Free Dentistry Day will take place Saturday, September 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the clinic, which is located at 4451 Bluebonnet Blvd Suite A.

Clients do not need to register or bring anything with them.
