The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge has prepared 500 “Club-on-the-Geaux” backpacks with supplies and fun activities for students to have while they spend time out of school. Parents can pick up the “Geaux Backpacks” at the Boys & Girls Club of Baton Rouge Thursday, March 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The backpack includes a book with information on how to stay healthy and safe during their time out of school. According to the Boys & Girls Club, the activity book also has fun, exercises, games and worksheets about art, history, math, reading, creative writing and poetry, English grammar, Spanish, mindfulness, storytelling, social studies and science. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge seeks to make sure students have the materials they need to keep them active during the time school is closed.
On Friday, March 20, at 3 p.m., staff will demonstrate some of the programs and activities in the “Geaux Backpacks” on Facebook Live at www.bgca.org/facebook. If students are unable to stream can see videos that will be uploaded to the organization Youtube page.
