BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) honored a young hero during the week of August 22.

According to BRFD, nine-year-old Stafford Rose was with family and friends -some of whom were young children- when a nearby individual began to suffer from a sudden medical emergency.

Rose didn’t let fear stop her from doing something to help.

Instead, BRFD says she jumped into action by rounding up the children who were in the area and shielding them from what was happening.

BRFD commended Rose for her bravery and quick action, saying, “We would like to recognize nine-year-old Stafford Rose for her bravery and quick action during a medical emergency… Thank you for your quick efforts and bravery.”

The Fire Department then presented Rose with a certificate and other local first responders gifted her with a bag of memorabilia.
