BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In 2021, there were a total of 914 crashes along Louisiana’s roadways, according to the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).
Though we may mentally associate traffic incidents with police officers, there are many instances when firefighters are called to the scene to assist.
One such instance would be a crash that requires the help of officials who are trained to provide vehicle extrication assistance.
This is typically defined as a complex disentanglement process that involves the removal of a vehicle from around a trapped person.
The skill involved in carrying out the extrication process requires specialized training, which is precisely what Baton Rouge Firefighters (BRFD) took on Tuesday (August 16).
Despite the day’s blazing temperatures, BRFD firefighters braved the heat and sharpened their vehicle extrication skills.
Many locals would likely agree that it’s reassuring to see capital area firefighters take such a serious approach to life-saving courses like this one.
