BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was responding to a two-vehicle crash when they were called into action again by an alleged drunk driver.
The crash scene was located at Jefferson Hwy. and Bocage Dr.
The affidavit states that Brandon Moody, 34, of Baton Rouge, allegedly drove past two deputies at “a high rate of speed.”
Those two deputies were trying to direct traffic since the roadway was blocked by the two vehicles involved in the crash.
Moody allegedly had the window down on his Hyundai Santa Fe while driving past the deputies.
The Baton Rouge man allegedly ignored the commands of one deputy to stop.
A traffic stop was initiated by another deputy who “smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and person,” according to the affidavit.
Moody was asked to take some standardized field sobriety tests and did not do well.
The Baton Rouge man was arrested and charged with the crimes listed below:
- Operating A Vehicle While Intoxicated
- Fail Main Control (Careless Operation)
Moody was given a chemical breath test which produced a BAC of .223 g%.
The Baton Rouge man admitted to drinking “a single beer in a 4-hour period at Churchill’s Cigar Bar at Towne Center,” according to the affidavit.
The 34-year-old was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Saturday, December 10.
On the following day, Moody was released from prison on a $11,000 bond.
