BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Authorities say a Baton Rouge family survived an alarming incident of domestic abuse over the weekend.

According to an official report from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO), it was Sunday (August 21) evening when 39-year-old Dilver Pineda approached his long-time girlfriend with a gun, pointed it at her, stated that he was tired of her, and said, “This is how it’s going to end.”

Deputies say it all started when Pineda entered the home that he and his girlfriend shared with her three children and got into an argument with her 15-year-old son.

Official documents indicate Pineda’s girlfriend tried to protect her son, and her two other children who were present, by telling Pineda to leave.

Instead of leaving, Pineda allegedly broke the family’s internet box with the intention of disconnecting the home’s surveillance cameras.

Arrest documents say Pineda then went to his vehicle, retrieved a Glock semi-automatic handgun, went back into the home, pointed the weapon at his girlfriend, and threatened her with the words mentioned above.

According to deputies, at this point, the 15-year-old called 911 for help and Pineda left the house.

Authorities say when they arrived, they questioned Pineda and he denied having a gun and using it to threaten his girlfriend.

But in their official report, deputies indicate that evidence, surveillance footage, and eyewitness accounts supported the victim’s account of what took place.

Pineda was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault-child endangerment, simple criminal damage to property, and obstruction of justice.
