BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The first year students at Glen Oaks High School are going to get a special introductory welcome on Friday morning.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is teaming up with the Baton Rouge Community College to offer a first of its kind program to incoming Freshman.
That program is called Pathways to Bright Futures.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, “This initiative will allow students to participate in dual enrollment classes and graduate with an Associates Degree or an Industry Based Credential (IBC).” East Baton Rouge Schools Superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse says opportunities like this close the economic gap.
“I think sometimes the challenge for post secondary education is that it’s too far from them, they cant relate to that, now they can go out and go right to work if they want to and make a great living,” says Dr. Narcisse.
At the completion of graduation students will receive either degree in addition to their high school diploma free of charge.
