BRCC to distribute computers to students for online classes amid COVID-19 pandemic

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will distribute computers to students who have technological obstacles to online learning. The drive-thru distribution will take place Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Mid City Campus, Governors Building, 201 Community College Drive.

“Many college students lack home access to a computer and the internet, which created challenges as courses moved online,” said BRCC Interim Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “BRCC is here to assist our college community and finding a solution to this issue was critical for students to continue their studies.”

The students receiving computers were identified after participating in a survey. The computers will be loaned for the remainder of the semester as a part of a new program.
