BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo, The Advocate host photo contest

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo and The Advocate are co-hosting their annual Zoo Photo Contest and will accept submissions to the Zoo through March 1.

A panel of jurors selected from the professional community will judge photos on general interest, photographic proficiency and reproductive quality, according to Robyn Lott, the Zoo’s director of marketing and public relations.

Winning entries will be displayed at Zippity Zoo Fest on March 28 and March 29 at the Zoo and will receive a suite of prizes, Lott wrote.

Submission categories are as follows:

  • Children age 12 and younger, in which a guardian must register and submit the photo
  • Junior, which is reserved for children ages 13 to 18
  • Novice Adult, which is reserved for beginners and nonprofessionals
  • Advanced Adult, which is reserved for considerable experience to professional
  • Fun Foto, which is reserved for pictures of people and their family or friends at the Zoo
