BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — BREC will be hosting our World’s Largest Swim Lesson Day at Liberty Lagoon Water Park, located at 111 Lobdell Ave, in Baton Rouge, on Friday, June 24 from 8 to 9 a.m.

This event was created by the World Waterpark Association in 2010, as a global public relations event supported by Aquatic Facilities. The WLSL event serves as a platform to help the global aquatics industry work together to build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim and to prevent drowning.

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages 1-14.

BREC is also currently providing free community swim lessons at Anna T. Jorden and City-Brooks Community Pools throughout the summer. To learn more about BREC Aquatics programming as well as BREC’s premiere water park, Liberty Lagoon go to https://www.brec.org/index.cfm/page/aquatics.
