BRFD: Single family dwelling considered a 'total loss'

Baton Rouge fire officials are investigating an early morning house fire near the Baton Rouge Zoo.

It happened just before 4:00 a.m. at 12152 Leonidas Dr.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “firefighters arrived on scene to find the house fully involved in flames.”

The Baton Rouge Fire Department had to force their way into the home because no one was present when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in 25 minutes.

BRFD said, “there was a dog found dead in a cage.”

No other injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

There’s no word on what caused the fire.

The investigation into what started this fire is ongoing.

BRFD says “there was minor exposure damage done to the house next door.”

BRPD, Entergy and EMS assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene of this fire.
