BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to two separate fires within the span of two and a half hours overnight.
The first fire took place at 1740 Wisteria St. and firefighters arrived a little before 11:15 p.m.
BRFD says, “firefighters arrived on scene to find a front room on fire.”
Firefighters were able to put the fire out in around 20 minutes with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
No one was hurt in this fire and BRPD joined EMS at the scene.
The vacant home sustained $5,000 in damages.
BRFD says, “the cause of this fire has been determined to be arson.”
Firefighters with the Baton Rouge Fire Department were then called to the scene of a second fire around 1:40 a.m.
This fire was also at a vacant home which was located at 584 Lettsworth St.
“Firefighters arrived on scene to find the home engulfed in flames,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
BRFD put this fire out in 20 minutes and the fire was contained to the vacant home.
No one was hurt and like the fire on Wisteria St., EMS and BRPD provided assistance at the scene.
This is the second time that the Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to this vacant home.
In both instances, investigators determined that arson was the cause of the fire.
