BRFD puts out arson fire on N. 36th St.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a house fire a little before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21.

Firefighters arrived in five minutes at 1532 N. 36th St. and immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

Upon arrival, firefighters found “heavy smoke and fire coming from a rear bedroom of the home,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes and firefighters successfully prevented the fire from fanning out of the bedroom.

BRFD says, “the bedroom where the fire started had heavy fire damage and the rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage.”

Fire investigators determined that arson was the cause of the fire.

The home sustained $43,000 in damages.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
