BRFD puts out arson fire overnight on Stearns St.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived at a house fire around midnight.

Firefighters arrived at 5855 Stearns St. “to find fire coming from the rear roof of the home,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Members of the fire department immediately went to work putting the fire out at the vacant home.

BRFD says, firefighters “made entry through the front door and were able to keep the fire in the rear of the home.”

Firefighters were able to put the fire out in around ten minutes with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

The vacant home sustained $25,000 in damages.

Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was arson.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
