BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a working fire on Monday morning.
Firefighters arrived at 5705 Saint Gerard Ave. a little before 7:40 a.m. on Monday, July 26.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw the occupants “outside and the front room of the home on fire,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
The occupants included one adult and three children.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out in ten minutes with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
The home sustained smoke damage and a $40,000 loss.
Fire investigators determined that an electrical malfunction is what caused the fire.
EMS, BRPD, Entergy and the Red Cross assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
