BRPD arrests suspect in connection with Richland Ave. shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – BRPD has made an arrest in connection with the deadly shooting that occurred at 234 Richland Ave. on April, 26, 2020.

Craig Willis, 29, was arrested and booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison in connection with the death of Ryan Hord.

Willis is facing these charges:

  • Second Degree Murder, Simple Burglary
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Resisting an Officer

On April 27, BRPD was called to investigate a late night shooting at 234 Richland Ave.

BRPD says, “Hord confronted a vehicle burglary suspect and they exchanged gunfire.”

Hord was struck and killed in the gunfire.

Willis was also shot and “fled the scene on foot,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

A BRPD K9 Officer helped capture the suspect who was subsequently taken to a hospital.

Arrest and booking awaits the suspect after recovering from their gunshot wounds.
