BRPD identifies two killed in crash on I-12 West early Saturday morning


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that took place a little before 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 12.

Three vehicles were involved in this crash which took place “in the 700 block of West I-12 between Millerville Rd. and South Sherwood Forest Blvd.,” According to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

This was the second accident to occur in the area within the span of a few hours.

The three vehicles involved in this crash were a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, 2009 Freightliner semi with a trailer and a Volvo semi with dual trailers.

Prior to the accident around 2 a.m., the Malibu and Volvo semi were stopped because of the previous deadly crash in the area.

At some point, the “2009 Freightliner semi with trailer crashed into the rear end of a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and a Volvo semi with dual trailers,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The force of the collision between the 2009 Freightliner and Malibu pushed the Malibu into the Volvo semi.

26-year-old Shedran Williams and 24-year-old Ivie Efferson were in the Chevrolet Malibu at the time of the crash.

Williams and Efferson were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this deadly crash remains open.
