BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a deadly crash involving two vehicles that occurred on South I-110 Tuesday (August 16) night around 11:09 p.m.
Baton Rouge Police (BRPD) say the tragic incident involved a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2014 Hyundai Sonata containing a driver and at least one passenger.
According to BRPD, the driver of the Sonata came to a stop on the interstate because their passenger, 24-year-old Najia Doucette, thought she’d lost something. So, Doucette got out of the Sonata to search for the lost item.
But as this was happening, the Silverado slammed into the back of the Sonata, and hit Doucette.
Sadly, police say Doucette died at the scene of the crash.
As of Thursday, August 18, the incident remains under investigation.
