BRPD makes arrest in Friday’s La Annie Drive slaying

BATON ROUGE, La. – Detectives from the Baton Rouge Police Department on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the Aug. 7 slaying of 19-year-old Alonge McClain.

Detectives arrested 18-year-old Lazarius Johnson of 3006 68th Ave., who will be booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of first degree murder, armed robbery, illegal use of a weapon and carjacking, according to BRPD spokesperson Sgt. Don Coppola Jr.

McClain, of 15242 Ryan Drive in Prairieville, was shot to death in the parking lot of an apartment complex on La Annie Drive in Baton Rouge on Friday evening.

A second person, who is not named, had fled the scene with gunshot wounds before being located and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to Coppola.
