Another Baton Rouge motorcycle officer has been hit while on duty.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said that “around 11:35 a.m. we had a motorcycle officer involved in a crash while providing traffic assistance for a funeral.”

The motorcycle officer was traveling north on Cora Dr. and was struck by a vehicle.

BRPD said the vehicle that hit the motorcycle officer was “turning off of Florida Blvd. onto Cora Dr.”

While in transit the motorcycle officer did have “his emergency equipment activated,” according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The motorcycle officer was sent to a local hospital after the crash.

BRPD said the “injuries at this time appear non-life-threatening.”

This comes after Cpl. Shane Totty was struck and killed in February while riding in a funeral procession.

More information will be provided when it becomes available.
