BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A 2009 BMW was stopped last week in the 5000 block of Florida Blvd. by a member of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Three people were in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop and two of them ended up behind bars.

BRPD arrested the driver of the vehicle, Vernon Williams, 27, of Baton Rouge, and one of the passengers, Malaysia Pigott, 25, of Baton Rouge.

The investigation started when the BRPD officer “observed a bag of marijuana in plain view, on top of the center console,” according to the affidavit.

The officer claims that marijuana was wafting from the vehicle and the driver admitted to smoking weed in the vehicle on the same day as the traffic stop.

All three vehicle occupants were detained after Williams said there were guns in the car.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered drugs and guns.

  • 6 dosage units of Adderall
  • 3 dosage units of Xanax
  • Digital scale
  • Glock 23 .40 caliber Pistol
  • Glock 19 9mm Pistol
  • Freedom Ordinance Fx9 Pistol
  • Diamondback 5.7 Pistol
  • Century Arms 7.62 caliber Pistol
  • 9mm Suppressor
  • Pistol conversion kit
  • Two FN magazines
  • Three 7.62 magazines
  • Three .40 caliber magazines
  • Two extended 9mm magazines
  • 50 round 9mm magazine

Williams admitting to being the owner of the marijuana and guns.

The Baton Rouge man was arrested and charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Possession of Schedule IV
  • Possession of Schedule II
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Illegal Carrying of Weapons (with CDS)
  • Warrant/Bench Warrant

Williams was released from the EBR Parish Prison on Sunday, September 25.

The affidavit states that Malaysia Pigott “initially admitted to possessing the marijuana that was found inside of her purse.”

Pigott was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the same day as Williams and remains in jail on one count of Possession of Marijuana and one count of Fugitive.
