BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – The grieving process is never easy, but there are options in the capital city for anyone seeking help. The Capital Area Human Services is sponsoring a free grief support group for individuals or families who are dealing with a loss or death of a loved one from opioids or other substance abuse.

Grief Group Facilitator Gwen Knox says it’s important that all participants commit to the eight weeks to take advantage of the program and steps to healing.

The eight-session grief recovery program will begin on Tuesday, September 6, and continues consecutive Tuesday evenings in Baton Rouge. Each of the sessions will meet from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Capital Area Human Services’ Baton Rouge Behavioral Health, 2751 Wooddale Boulevard.

Pre-registration is mandatory. Sessions are free, open to the public and confidential. If you’re interested in registering, call 225-925-1906 and leave your name and number.
