Capital City CASA seeking court-appointed advocates for children in foster care

BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) organization of the Capital Area is in need of volunteers to act as the voice of children in the foster care system. A spokesperson with CASA said the organization is in special need of males and African-Americans.

The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is to attend a 45 minute orientation session. The final session of 2019 starts at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.

The session will be held at the CASA office, 848 Louisiana Avenue.

All volunteers must then attend a volunteer training class, which begins Jan. 14.
