ABITA SPRINGS, La. (WDSU) —
At least seven people were injured Monday when a car crashed into an Abita Springs gas station store.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a Texaco station at the corner of Highway 59 and Harrison Avenue after reports of a silver Honda CR-V crashing into the store.
The car entered the store through the front glass before coming to a stop several feet inside the business.
Deputies said there is extensive damage to the building.
Six customers were injured.
Five were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
One was airlifted to another hospital with injuries that were non life-threatening.
The driver, a 72-year-old Abita Springs woman, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to the report.
The driver was cited with negligent injuring.
