UPDATE: Suspect arrested in car wash arson on College Drive

BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) —

UPDATE (as of 6:30 P.M. on 7/5/19): An arson suspect has been arrested in connection to a car wash fire on College Drive.

Lorena Martin , 46, is in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on simple arson charges.

A fire happened at a Shell station car wash on College Dr. around 10:54 p.m. on Independence Day.

Firefighters arrived at 3100 College Dr. in five minutes.

BRPD said firefighters found “the car wash engulfed in flames.”

Seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder were used to put the fire out in a little over 20 minutes.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “the fire was contained to the car wash building.”

The car wash is considered a ‘total loss,’ according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Investigators with the Baton Rouge Fire Department found that arson was the cause of the fire.

The Shell station car wash suffered $100,000 in damages.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene of the fire.

No one was hurt as a result of this fire.
