CareSouth Medical and Dental giving out gift cards to those who want to stop smoking

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Do you want to quit smoking?

CareSouth is looking to reward those that are willing to give up smoking.

CareSouth Medical and Dental is giving out $50 gift cards through the Smoking Cessation program.

All it takes is some time and the willingness to try to quit smoking.

“Most of the time when people try to quit it usually takes a couple of times or more before they actually quit for good,’ said Matthew Valliere, CareSouth’s CEO. “This program provides resources to help make the process easier.”

The awarding of two $25 dollars gift cards will be done after these steps are taken:

  • Enrolling in the program and completing an assessment with one of our social workers.
  • Completing the four counseling sessions about smoking cessation with our social workers.

The best part is that you can complete the sessions over the phone if you want to.

“When you ask why a person smokes, most of the time he or she will say it helps calm my nerves so the program offers counseling sessions to help develop skills and tools to cope with stressors in their life,” said Donna Matthews, CareSouth’s Behavioral Health Director.

If you do choose to give this program a chance, CareSouth suggests that you sign up for the Smoking Trust Program or the Louisiana Quit Line program.

CareSouth says, “these programs will provide participants with free nicotine replacement products such as nicotine patches, gum and lozenges and other resources such as a smoking coach.”

If you are interested in taking part in the CareSouth Medical and Dental Smoking Cessation program, call 225-650-2000 to set up an appointment with a social worker.
