BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — This week, Cat Haven announced a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new medical clinic within the Adoption Center.
The clinic is expected to benefit feline patients and the staff members who care for them.
Throughout its 23 years of saving kittens, Cat Haven staff have had no choice but to take animals to other centers for spaying and neutering. The extensive travel became a source of stress to the animals and staff members.
But the new clinic will provide easy access to feline medical procedures and eliminate any need to travel for care.
“It definitely cuts down on the adoption time. If somebody comes in to adopt a kitty, we want them spayed or neutered and ready to go either that day or the day after. And it keeps us from having to transport the kitties to different veterinarians in the area,” said Holly Carey, executive director of Cat Haven.
Carey added that this will not only help save more cats but create a better environment. As of Tuesday, workers have already put the new clinic to use.
