BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – This Christmas, the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge (CCDBR) is aiming to help over 500 financially strapped families engage in the season’s gift-giving festivities without worrying about how they’re going to cover the cost of expenses.

The organization issued a Monday, November 7 news release stating that it plans to do so by matching families in need with volunteer organizations, businesses and individuals who are willing to sponsor a family’s Christmas celebration.

According to CCDBR, more than 500 families have been screened and verified as in need of support. The organization says “The matching process is automated with donors having the ability to choose recipient families at christmas.ccdiobr.org. Donors may request a family with a specific number of members or even a family with children similar in age.”

The deadline to sponsor a family is December 5 and gift delivery dates are December 9 and December 12-14.
