NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — The Causeway Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman who jumped from the bridge over the weekend.

The Causeway Police Department said the woman jumped from the northbound span of the Causeway Bridge on Saturday.

Causeway Police said officers received an anonymous complaint of a woman walking northbound at the 0.8 mile marker of the northbound span, approximately one mile from the south shore.

An officer was able to intercept the woman; however, before the officer could escort the woman to safety, she proceeded southbound on foot, according to the news release issued by Causeway Police.

The officer attempted to intercept the woman; however, without warning, she ran to the guardrail and jumped into the lake, according to Causeway Police.

Causeway Police said despite the intensive search with multiple agencies, the woman has not been located.

The woman is described as approximately 18-21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches tall, between 95-115 pounds, with short, dark hair.

She was wearing a dark plaid flannel shirt and khaki shorts, and was barefoot at the time she jumped, according to Causeway Police.
