Central Fire Department rescues woman from house fire, BRFD investigating

CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) – The Central Fire Department responded to a fire around 5:20 a.m. on Friday morning.

Firefighters arrived at 12930 Slope Oaks Dr. and found a kitchen on fire.

Members of the Central Fire Department immediately entered the home and rescued a woman who was in a back bedroom.

That woman was transported to a local hospital and her condition is not known at this time.

It took firefighters around 20 minutes to put the fire out.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading outside the kitchen but the rest of the home did suffer smoke damage.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department is sending an investigator to the scene.
