Central High School set to honor Class of 2020 with drive-in ceremony

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – The Central High School (CHS) Class of 2020 is going to receive recognition at a drive-in graduation ceremony on Friday night.

Starting at 7 p.m., school officials are holding a special event at the Community School System property which is located next to Wildcat Stadium.

The graduation ceremony will include these scheduled events:

  • Presentations by school leaders
  • Speeches by the CHS Class of 2020 co-valedictorians

According to CHS, “every graduate will be recognized with a video display.”

“This graduating class has faced many challenges this year because of the COVID-19 closures,” Superintendent Jason Fountain said. “The Central High School leadership team has worked diligently to make this ceremony a memorable occasion to honor them.”

There are some guidelines for Friday night’s graduation ceremony.

According to Fountain, “only cars occupied by a graduate will be allowed into the ceremony and those graduates must show their IDs at the registration tent for admission.”

All individuals must stay in their cars during the drive-thru graduation ceremony.

Attendees will be able to listen to the ceremony on their radio.

If you are unable to attend the drive-thru graduation ceremony, it will be live streamed on YouTube and Facebook.

The entrance to the parking lot will open up one hour before the ceremony is scheduled to begin.
