CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) – A little over one week ago, the Central Police Department was alerted by multiple people about a situation in the North Woods subdivision.

CPD said, the calls came in around 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, about a driver who was possibly “impaired.”

EBR EMS and the Central Police Department responded to the subdivision.

“Reporting citizens observed the suspect drive on the wrong side of the road and run over at least one mailbox,” according to the Central Police Department.

Upon arrival, a CPD officer found the driver.

“The impaired driver had failed to negotiate a right turn at a “T” intersection, entered a residential driveway, and was preparing to drive through a front yard,” according to the Central Police Department.

The driver did come to a stop and could not do a field sobriety test when asked by Central PD.

That test did not go well and Central PD thought the driver was “suffering from a near narcotics overdose.”

The driver was arrested and charged with among other crimes, Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated.
