CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) — Central Community School System was awarded the Model of Excellence Award from the Louisiana Department of Education on Thursday.
“We want to thank you and honor you today with this Model of Excellence Award,” said Dr. Cade Brumley, State Superintendent of Education.
The state superintendent presented Central High School with the 2023-2024 achievement award because the school has set the tone for other schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish School.
Central Superintendent Dr. Jason Fountain said the community made this possible.
“My goal from the beginning has always been to make this community proud of our school system,” said Fountain.
The school was awarded for implementing plans to help students. Fountain said that one-on-one programs like “What I Need” and “Flex” are helping students achieve their academic goals.
“It’s a 30-minute period where our students get what they need,” said Fountain.
Fountain told me it’s a domino effect. Teachers support teachers while pouring into students. He believes there is still much work to do.
“We still have a lot of room to grow. We’re just at the tip of the iceberg with that, but we’re very excited about the future.”
