BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) – The City of Baker School System is making a change after the decision by Governor John Bel Edwards to move into Phase 3.

This change comes 11 days after the change in phases and the City of Baker School System is providing an update on students’ returning schedule.

Details on the changes due to Phase 3 can be found below:

  • The Baker School system has transitioned back toward in-person learning as ordained by the Louisiana State Board of Education.
  • 25%-50% school bus occupancy will increase to 50%- 70% school bus occupancy.
  • Pre K- 5th grade students will be attending school five days a week.
  • 6th – 8th grade students will be attending school five days a week, face-to-face, effective on September 28, 2020.
  • 9th – 12th grade students will be attending school five days a week, with a hybrid model, effective on September 28, 2020. Be aware that on October 19, 2020; all 9th – 12th grade students will attend school face-to-face.
  • Please note that unless the parent provides extenuating circumstances or health reasons on why their child should continue to partake in social-distance learning, your child will need to attend school physically.
