BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – While storm debris pickup begins in East Baton Rouge Parish on Tuesday, the same can’t be said for recycling.

According to the Office of the Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, “recycling services are suspended until further notice.”

These areas are affected by this decision about recycling services:

  • City of Baton Rouge
  • Unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish
  • City of Central

The suspension of recycling services is “due to power related issues at the City-Parish Recycling Facility (Materials Recovery Facility.” according to the mayor’s office.

The city hopes this move is only temporary and that recycling services in these areas will begin again in a few days.
