City of New Roads releases details, schedule for 3-day July 4 celebration

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — After being downsized last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the City of New Roads’ July 4 Festival is back in full swing this year, and its theme is “Quarantining in America.”

The event, which will begin on Friday and last through Sunday, will be held 211 W. Main St. in Downtown New Roads.

On Friday, the celebration will kick off with live music from The Michael Foster Project at 5p.m., and the night will end with a fireworks show over False River at 9 p.m. A live performance by Tyree Neal will be the highlight of Saturday’s celebration, and a boat parade Saturday on False River will conclude the festival.

All events are free.

The City of New Roads provided the following schedule of events:


  • 4 p.m. — DJ Robbo
  • 5 pm. — The Michael Foster Project
  • 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. — waterslides
  • 9 p.m. — fireworks


  • 2 p.m. — DJ Robbo
  • 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. — waterslides
  • 5 p.m. — Tyree Neal


  • Noon — DJ Robbo
  • 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. — waterslides
  • 2 p.m. — boat parade
