City Year Baton Rouge, an education-focused organization that unites young adults for a year of service in Baton Rouge schools. This school year, City Year Baton Rouge will deploy 80 AmeriCorps members to serve in 10 Baton Rouge schools. These young people will impact nearly 4,000 students on a daily basis.
Baton Rouge has hosted over 850 City Year AmeriCorps members throughout our years of service in the Capital Region. City Year’s AmeriCorps members have and will continue to provide support to students who face the greatest risk of dropping out by working side-by-side with teachers focusing on students’ attendance, behavior and course performance in math and English. Our AmeriCorps members are the extra people power in the classroom that teachers desperately need.
“I am inspired and in awe of these committed 80 young people who are selflessly serving and giving back to our community,” said Jada Lewis, City Year Baton Rouge’s Executive Director. “We are laser-focused on continuing to move the needle towards more students on the path to graduation and future success.”
